This is an addendum to my previous conversation with Aidan: Ukraine Interviews: Aidan on Ukraine pub talk. I sent him a video of a very fat dog, and he commented it looked like the Bakhmut dog. So, I grabbed the recorder.
Vic: What is the Bakhmut dog?
Aidan: So there was this orange dog. He looks kind of like the dog from the “this is fine” meme with the- it had that same sort of color, in Bakhmut, during the battle. Rather famous battle. He was horrendously obese, allegedly because he ate the dead bodies all the Russian soldiers left in no man’s land. And there were quite a few memes. And I believe someone wrote a poem about the Bakhmut dog eating dead Russians.
Vic: Did anyone photograph him eating dead Russians?
Aidan: I don’t believe they photographed him in the act, but he was a very fat dog, and there was not much else to eat around there.
Vic: What was the poem?
Aidan: Um. I don’t remember. I believe it invoked the image of goulash <laughs>. If you give me like a couple hours, I could probably find it. I think I remember who did it.
Vic: <laughs> We will continue this interview later.
[Aidan looked up the author of the poem and found that his Twitter account has been suspended, so the poem is unfortunately likely lost. He did send me a link to a video of the dog: https://x.com/georgian_legion/status/1612728188228050944]
